before we start talking about our mega-nice OCX weekend, we are HAPPY and GLAD to be publishing Jane Mai’s New book POND SMELT. It’s about wolves and townspeople and kinda.. well.. Animal Crossing. (just in time for the new game too!).

You can pre-order the book now at www.peowstudio.com, it ships worldwide and comes with a special surprise present. Estimated shipping date is end of June! So you can read comics and play the game at the same time too. It’s 100 Swedish Krona, shipping included too!

We’ll be putting up more previews from what it looks like the coming weeks. The pic here is some teal green flyers we made for it this past weekend so.. yep! more to come!

IT’S NEWS!

gats just showed me this fucking game and every part of it looks perfect.

make friends. make them romance. babies. giant heads. tomodachi collection: new life

hey i already said this on my main blog but if you like this game spread the word and tell people about it!!! reblog it and show your friends

its a bit of a pipe dream but if this game gets enough attention it might become localized/have an american adaption like what nintendo did with Ouedon and Elite Beat Agents!!

if you’re wondering why this looks so funny / surreal / good, it’s because it’s by Nintendo SPD Group No.1, the motherfuckers who’ve made every single WarioWare and Rhythm Heaven game (aka the best Nintendo games of the past decade)

they make the best shit and it is a total tragedy that none of the Tomodachi games have made it here yet

god damn, i want this

Peter Fritz.

The artist Oliver Croy came across Peter Fritz’s tiny model homes at a junk store in 1993 where each of them were delicately wrapped in plastic bags.  Little is known about Peter Fritz other than him being an Austrian insurance clerk.  With the help of architectural curator Oliver Elser, the 387 model buildings were put on display at the 2013 Venice Art Biennale.  See more of them below:

The Capture Creatures Gallery Show on Saturday was the most fun! Thankyou so much to everyone who came by. The show is up for another two weeks, so if you are in the LA area you should check it out. There are also a number of the 156 paintings still available to purchase online!

This show is beautiful! Get yourself a capture creature before they’re all gone!!!!

Chinese Death Star

Victo Ngai

I did the cover of the New York Times Sunday Review yesterday. The article is about the aggressive global push of China’s state-capitalism and the fear of China’s world domination. You can read the article here.

AD Aviva gave me the great suggestion of maybe having an image “dominating” the page, instead of being boxed in a rectangle.

After a couple round of sketches, we agreed that having the Great Wall expanding and covering the entire globe was the best solution for this article as it also relates to the Chinese investing in building dams and infrastructure all over the world.

During the inking stage, I thought, why not also make the extending walls  look like monstrous testicles? Then my boyfriend Kyle walked by and said “Your drew a Chinese Death Star!” I am okay with that.

Many thanks again to the wonderful Aviva and the NYTimes!

Made this for Lacey for donating to my Indiegogo (I am slowly but surely getting through the last of the art rewards for backers). This is like, the second gif I’ve ever made?? Drawn in Manga Studio 5, assembled in GIMP in about 3 days.

The spinning light is a lil bit jenky but otherwise I am really happy with it.
